The Third (and last) Quiz at The Beacon was another very quiet evening, with only 4 teams participating (and only 15 "quizzers").  The Quiz was won by Bête Noire, who scored an excellent total of 73 points. They beat Philco (54 points) by twelve clear points. Scrabble 4-1 finished in 3rd place overall with a total score of 56 points, and No New Name Yet were tonights last placed team, scoring 41 points in total (which equalled the 5th highest score to finish last so far this year).

Please note that the Thursday Evening Quiz Night at The Beacon was short-lived, and came to an end after the Quiz on 24th August - we are again actively looking for a new venue, and also hope to revert to Tuesday evenings.
 

New Teams are always welcome at our quizzes - directions will be included here when we have found a new venue - and the quiz usually starts at around 9pm and finishes around 11pm. We may also consider starting earlier, at 8.30pm, as we did at Shenley.
We limit the team size to 8 players, but if there are more than 8 of you, why not split into teams for competition ?. If you do need any more information, please mail Chris or John and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
 

This weeks Cashpot was won by Scrabble 4-1,  who scored 4/6 in the Jackpot Quiz. They beat Philco and Bête Noire by a single point.
As the tie-break question was not used tonight, the separate "nearest the tie-break answer" prize was won by No New Name Yet.

All-Time Record scores set tonight :
Bête Noire - Equal 8th Highest Grand Total (73 points), Equal 4th Highest score in main quiz (47/50), and Equal 7th largest winning margin (12 points).

Record scores for 2006 to date set tonight were :
Bête Noire - Equal 4th Highest grand total (73), 2nd Highest main quiz score (47/50), and Equal 2nd largest winning margin (12 points),
No New Name Yet - Equal 5th Highest Grand Total by a last placed team (41 points), Equal 7th Highest main quiz score by a last placed team (26/50), and 6th largest margin to a team placed last (15 points).

Only 4 teams turned out for the third quiz at The Beacon, with just 15 people participating - a disappointing turnout, and this proved to be the catalyst for the cancellation of the quiz (allied with generally poor custom at the Beacon). As always, we hope you enjoyed the evening, and many thanks for your great support - we hope to see more of our regulars soon at a New Venue - Hopefully on Tuesday evenings soon.
